To outline the purpose, membership and terms of reference of External Course Advisory Panels.
Purpose
The External Course Advisory Panel (ECAP) assists the College to ensure that:
a. The course remains aligned with the expectations of the profession
b. The course reflects current scholarship
c. Course staff are advised regarding their professional development
d. Where courses are available to offshore cohorts, appropriate pastoral care strategies and sufficient teaching and learning resources are available.
An ECAP may serve more than one course in the same discipline.
Membership
1. Course co-ordinator(s)
2. At least one external Representative from the Academic Community
3. At least one external Representative from the Profession
4. If applicable, at least one external Representative from each location of offshore cohorts
5. Dean of Studies
Meetings
The ECAP will normally meet annually in June of each year. Meetings may be held electronically, including non-synchronously if required.
Quorum
As this is an advisory panel there is no need for a quorum though meetings should be scheduled to include as many members as possible.
Terms of Reference
1. General Guidelines
The ECAP shall work with the College to advise the college regarding alignment with industry expectations and current scholarship requirements and professional development opportunities for the staff associated with the course.
Where the course is offered to overseas cohorts the ECAP will advise on appropriate strategies for pastoral care and teaching and learning resourcing of offshore student cohorts.
2. Reporting
The ECAP will report its advice to the Learning, Teaching & Research subcommittee for reporting to the Academic Board.
