Background: 

The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) has a number of standards related to the continuing registration of Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). Standard 1 mandates suitably skilled trainers and assessors to be engaged to train or assess.

Purpose: 

This policy is to ensure that the delivery of the College’s scope of registration (accredited courses and units of competency) incorporate the principles contained in Standard 1 of the RTO Standards (2015), specifically with clauses 1.13, 1.14, 1.15 & 1.16.

Scope: 

The policy relates to all VET units of competency, training package qualifications, and accredited courses delivered by the College or any of its teaching partners.

Statement: 

The College shall ensure compliance with clauses 1.13, 1.14, 1.15 & 1.16 of Standard 1. These procedures shall be detailed in the VET Trainers and Assessors Procedures document.

The College shall only use trainers and assessors who have the qualification specified in Schedule 1 (or demonstrated equivalency).
