Purpose: 

To describe the grounds upon which a student may request a supplementary examination

Scope: 

This policy applies to all Higher Education students.

Statement: 

Where a student is prevented by illness or other circumstances beyond his/her control from attending an examination, or where a student believes that illness or other special circumstances have significantly affected his/her performance in an examination, that student may apply (with supporting evidence) for consideration for a supplementary examination on medical or compassionate grounds.

A student who fails a test or examination may be granted a supplementary test or examination, provided that the student’s performance in other components of the assessment has been satisfactory.

A student who is prevented by illness or other circumstances beyond his/her control from attending the supplementary examination, is encouraged to speak with their course advisor.
