Currently, the Student Progress Policy describes how Eastern will identify students who are at risk of not successfully completing their units of study and the support available to students to assist them with successfully completing their units of study, including Eastern’s processes for ensuring that students are aware of these support options.
This policy is published in accordance with Eastern’s obligations under the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (Cth), and should be be read in conjunction with other relevant Eastern policies, including:
Eastern College Australia (Eastern) is committed to ensuring all its students enjoy a culture of support and are provided with the assistance and resources required to help them to be successful in their studies.
This policy applies to all Higher Education students and staff.
Eastern will ensure that support is available to students to assist them with successfully completing their units and that students are made aware of these support services throughout their study.
Students At Risk of Not Successfully Completing Subjects
Eastern will undertake processes and actions as described in the Student Progress Policy to identify students who are at risk of not successfully completing their units of study and will will communicate with students identified as at risk to ensure they are aware of support services available to assist them in successfully completing their units of study.
Support Services Available to Students
Eastern offers either directly or through a third-party numerous support options for students to assist in successful completion of their units of study. These services are detailed on the College website at https://www.eastern.edu.au/life-at-eastern/student-support/, and include:
- Academic Support
- Personal Support
- IT Support
- Administrative Support
- SASH supports for Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment
- Advocacy, Complaints and Grievance supports
Eastern will publish this Support for Students Policy as well as more information regarding support for students on its website and any other internal sites as deemed appropriate.
